Paying too much for craft supplies?

I love knitting and crochet, but I'm struggling with the exorbitant cost! Same for quilting and sewing! Is there a reason that craft supplies cost so much? I'm starting to feel that they cost that much because we're willing to spend that much to get them...

    One of our favorite ways to save money on craft supplies is to do the same project as friends so we can buy the materials in bulk.
