Winter Jasmine and Heather (Free Embroidery Pattern)

Delicately wrought in shades of purple and gold, this beautiful embroidery pattern would look gorgeous on a tea towel.

Step 1

Transfer the outline and mount the fabric. Don't transfer the V-shaped leaves of the heather, which will be added naturally as work progresses.

Step 2

For the Heather: Work the stems in open fishbone stitch, the flowers in detached chain stitch and the buds in French knots.

For the Jasmine: Outline the flower petals in Split stitch and fill with satin stitch over the outline. Apply a few small straight stitches to the flower centers for a shadow effect.

Step 3

Work the stamens in stem stitch with green-gold and apply a single gold seed bead to each for the stigma.

Step 4

Work the stems in stem stitch, and the sepals of the bud and the small leaves along the stem in detached chain stitch, using green (280). Work the sepals of the upper right flower in satin stitch, using green-gold (279). Work the jasmine bud in yellow satin stitch (295) on top of the heather fishbone stitch.
