T-SHIRT REDO - ADD A CUTE POCKET
Even the most basic T-shirt craves some attention, and this is a super easy way to liven up any loose-fitting T-shirt you own. It’s perfect for a warm summer’s day or a stroll by the river.
Here's what you need:
- Cardboard
- Ruler and pen
- Fabric scissors
- Your choice of print fabric
- Iron
- Loose-fitting T-shirt
- Pins
- Matching colored thread
- Sewing machine
Difficulty Level: 3
Step 1
Measure and cut out a cardboard template for your pocket patch. Don’t forget to include 1 in (2 1/2 cm) seam allowance and an extra 1 in (2 1/2 cm) for the top section to be folded over.
Step 2
Cut the pocket out, using the template as a guide.
Step 3
Turn the pocket wrong-side up, fold in the seam allowance then press with a hot iron, using the template to secure the fold.
Step 4
Fold the top section down and press with a hot iron. Machine stitch a line across the top – this will be the opening to your pocket.
Step 5
Lay the T-shirt flat on your work surface. Place the patch over the chest, preferably on the left bust, ensuring the stitched top-side is the right way up. Pin to secure.
Step 6
Sew on your patch pocket using a straight stitching line close to the edge, removing the pins as you go. Don't sew the top section to the T-shirt.
