SHARK BITE PAPER PLATE
Next time you make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, why not serve it up with a little danger? Tell your little ones that if they don’t eat their sandwich, Jaws will scarf it up, and you’re sure to get back empty plates.
Materials:
- Paper plate
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Craft knife and cutting mat
- Black medium-weight cardstock
- Paper glue
- PB&J (or other filling) sandwich
- Table knife
- Access to a photocopier or printer (optional)
- Extra jam (optional)
Step 1
Measure, mark, and cut a slot in the paper plate, as shown, with the ruler, pencil, and craft knife.
Step 2
Use the pencil to draw a scary shark with two glue tabs onto black cardstock (or see template 53, page 319). Cut it out.
Step 3
Push the shark through the slot in the plate. Turn the plate over and apply glue to the tabs. Fold them in opposite directions and press them to the plate to secure them.
Step 4
Cut a small triangle out of the middle of your sandwich. Place the sandwich in the jaws of the shark. Optional: Dribble a little extra jam around the shark’s teeth for added gore!
