LEARN TO TIE A RIGHT SPIRAL DECORATIVE KNOT
Learn to tie decorative knots to use in making unique handmade jewelry and other accessories. The Right Spiral knot includes detailed step-by-step instructions, with clear diagrams illustrating every step. Use the knots, and decorative variations and color patterns for making bracelets, necklaces, pendant settings, and other jewelry, as well as buttons, bag handles, and knotted lace trim.
Both variations of the spiral knot are great for bracelets. Use two leather cords for the core and make spiral knots with three different colors of hemp cord. Combine the left and right spiral knots to create a zigzag pattern.
Step 1
Fold B across the two core cords. Align A on top of B. Bring A under the core cords and through the arch made by B.
Step 2
Pull A and B to tighten. One right spiral knot is complete.
Step 3
Repeat steps 1-2 using A. Continue in this manner, making sure to always bring the right cord over the core cords.
Step 4
After making four or five knots, hold the core cords taut and push the knots up to tighten. The knots will start to twist as you continue working.
