Knitted Elf Slippers

Don’t tiptoe around looking for Santa in these slippers—the bells will give you away! The curled toe shaping gives an easy fit, making these great for gifts when you can’t measure your recipient’s foot.

Finished Measurements Women’s Small (Medium, Large)

Foot length: 9 (91⁄2, 10)"/23 (24, 25.5) cm

Yarn Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted (100% wool; 3.5 oz/100 g; 220 yd/202 m)

  • Color A: 1 ball all sizes Rosetti Yarns Wicked Fur (90% nylon, 10% polyester; 5 oz/125 g; 109 yd/100 m)
  • Color B: 1 ball all sizes Shown in: Women’s Medium, 12508 Woodsy Heather (A), 102 Tundra Wolf (B)

Needles & Other Materials U.S. size 7 (4.5 mm) straight knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge U.S. size 10 (6 mm) straight knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge Tapestry needle 2 bells Small amount of wool batting

Gauge 17 sts and 32 rows in garter st = 4"/10 cm

Step 1

Sole With A and smaller needles, cast on 13 (13, 15) sts. Knit 1 row. Inc Row: Kfb, knit to last 2 sts, kfb, k1—2 sts inc’d. Knit 3 rows. Rep Inc Row—17 (17, 19) sts. Knit every row until sole measures 8 (81⁄2, 9)"/20.5 (21.5, 23) cm. Dec Row: K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1—2 sts dec’d. Rep Dec Row every fourth row 5 (5, 6) more times—5 sts rem. Knit 3 rows. Next Row: K1, sk2p, k1—3 sts. Knit 3 rows. Next Row: Sk2p. Fasten off.

Step 2

Side (make 2) With A and smaller needles, cast on 53 (55, 59) sts. Row 1: Knit to last 3 sts, [kfb] 3 times—56 (58, 62) sts. Rows 2 and 4: Knit. Row 3: Knit to last 4 sts, [kfb] twice, [kfbf] twice—62 (64, 68) sts. Rows 5–6: Knit to last 25 sts, w&t, knit to end. Rows 7–8: Knit to last 22 sts, w&t, knit to end. Rows 9–10: K5, kfb, knit to last 19 sts, w&t, knit to end— 64 (66, 70) sts. Rows 11–12: Knit to last 16 sts, w&t, knit to end. Rows 13–14: Knit to last 13 sts, w&t, knit to end. Rows 15–16: K5, kfb, knit to last 10 sts, w&t, knit to end— 66 (68, 72) sts. Rows 17–18: Knit to last 7 sts, w&t, knit to end. Rows 19–20: Knit to last 4 sts, w&t, knit to end. Row 21: Knit to last 4 sts, [kfb] twice, [kfbf] twice—72 (74, 78) sts. Rows 22 and 24: Knit. Row 23: Knit to last 3 sts, [kfb] 3 times—75 (77, 81) sts. Row 25: Knit. Bind off all sts. Sew Sides to Sole, starting at the center back of the heel. Once you reach the end of the Sole, continue by seaming the sides together to the point and back along the top, stopping 31⁄2"/9 cm from the end.

Step 3

Fur Cuff With WS facing, yarn B, and larger needles, pick up and knit 20 sts along last 7"/18 cm of top edge. Knit 1 row. Purl 1 row. Next Row: (K1, kfb) across—30 sts. Work 3 more rows in St st. Bind off loosely.

Step 4

Finishing Sew back seam. Loosely sew a running st along the top of the toe, starting 1/2.5 cm from the point and going for 4/10 cm. Pull yarn to gather to 2"/5 cm and fasten off. Sew bell to tip of toe. Weave in ends. Stuff a small amount of wool batting in tip of toe.
