Amigurumi Elephant (Free Crochet Pattern)

This free amigurumi elephant pattern is courtesy of Lion Brand Yarn. Skill level: Easy Here's what you need: - 1 ball 860-105 Vanna's Choice Yarn: Silver Blue - 1 ball Lion Brand Crochet Hook - Size G-6 (4 mm) - 1 Lion Brand Split Ring Stitch Markers - 1 Lion Brand Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6) - 2 plastic safety eyes, 9 mm diameter - Fiberfill stuffing

Step 1

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

Step 2

Stitch explanation: sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Step 3

Elephant is worked in continuous rnds; do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed.

Step 4

Body Ch 2: - Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch; place a marker to indicate beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. - Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 12 sc. - Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around - 18 sc. - Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around - 24 sc. - Rnd 5: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * around - 30 sc. - Rnd 6: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * around - 36 sc. - Rnd 7: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc; rep from * around - 42 sc. - Rnds 8-17: Sc in each sc around. - Rnd 18: *Sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc; rep from * around - 36 sc. - Rnd 19: *Sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * around - 30 sc. - Rnd 20: *Sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * around - 24 sc. Following package directions, attach safety eyes. Stuff piece.

Step 5

Shape Trunk: - Rnd 21: *Sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around - 18 sc. - Rnd 22: *Sc2tog, sc in next sc; rep from * around - 12 sc. - Rnds 23-41: Sc in each sc around. Fasten off. Stuff trunk lightly. Fold open end of trunk up and sew in place.

Step 6

Legs, Ch 2 (make 4): - Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch; place a marker to indicate beg of rnd; move marker as each rnd is completed. - Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 12 sc. - Rnds 3-5: Sc in each sc around. Fasten off.

Step 7

Eears, Ch 2 (make 2): - Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch; place a marker to indicate beg of rnd; move marker as each rnd is completed. - Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 12 sc. - Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around - 18 sc. - Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around - 24 sc. - Rnd 5: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * around - 30 sc. - Rnd 6: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * around - 36 sc. - Rnd 7: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc; rep from * around - 42 sc. Fasten off.

Step 8

Finishing tail: Join yarn with sl st at back of Elephant, and ch 5. Work 3 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Fasten off.

Step 9

Stuff Legs and sew to Body.

Step 10

Fold Ears in half to make a half circle, lightly stuff and sew closed. Sew straight edge of Ears to Head. Weave in ends.
