Fall Leaf Wreath Made with Cutting Machine

It’s refreshing to celebrate the changing of seasons with new decorations. I have been making different versions of fall leaves every year and this muted color palette is my personal favorite. Add your own style by choosing a mixture of colors and textures that inspire you. Then find new ways to use the leaves throughout your home— perhaps strung together into a garland on the mantle or tucked into a napkin for a place setting. Published by Clarkson Potter/Publishers, an imprint of Penguin Random House LLC. materials & Tools • frosted text-weight, vellum, or card stock papers • paper curling tool • low-temp hot glue gun • grape vine wreath (for large wreath) • 6-inch gold hoops (for mini wreaths) • craft paint and brush (optional)

Step 1

Cut and score your leaves from text-weight, card stock, or vellum papers.

Step 2

Fold leaves along score lines.

Step 3

Use curling tool to shape leaves.

Step 4

For leaves with multiple scores, start by folding center score line.

Step 5

Press curling tool into score lines to shape leaf.

Step 6

To make large wreath, glue leaves in rotation onto grapevine form.

Step 7

For mini wreaths, glue leaves in rotation onto metal hoop.

Step 8

For painted leaves, brush shades of paint onto paper. Let dry before shaping and folding. Tip: For our painted leaves, we cut shapes from craft paper and added the color with paint. Gold or other metallic colors add a beautiful sheen and texture to the finished look.
