MINT-TIN SUITCASE CRAFT FOR KIDS
This mini luggage is perfect for storing toy cars, crayons, or a secret stash of candy.
Here's what you’ll need:
- 1 mint tin
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- 1/2-inch-wide bright-colored ribbon
- 1/4-inch-wide neutral-colored ribbon
- Scissors
- Tacky glue
- 4 mini silver brads
- Wire clippers
Step 1
Paint the outside of your tin and let dry. Apply a second coat of paint if needed to cover the brand label.
Step 2
Cut four pieces of ribbon (two 1/2 inch wide, two 1/4 inch wide) that are double the tin’s height plus 3 inches.
Step 3
To make the handles, lay the tin horizontally and glue the 1/2-inch ribbon to its face, spacing it evenly from each edge, curving it above the open side of the tin to make the handle, and leaving a 1/4-inch overhang on the bottom. Glue the 1/4-inch neutral ribbon centered on top of it. Fold the ends under the bottom of the tin, glue, and trim. Repeat on the other side. Let the glue dry.
Step 4
Cut the points off of four mini brads with wire clippers (a job for an adult). Glue two of them to the face of the ribbon, about 1/4 inch from the top edge of the tin. Repeat on the other side.
