Reclaimed wood furniture can look like a patchwork of scraps or web of branches, but it's almost surprising when it appears like any other piece of home decor made out of wood. No compromises or clever inventions necessary. Consider, for example, the spice rack above made by artist Kai Samuels-Davis from tasting sticks that were originally used to flavor wine. (If you don't have an oak barrel, sometimes you need tasting sticks.) The sewing table was built out of a "sinker log" that had been used in the 1930s. Kai's partner (and fellow artist) Clare Elsaesser spent an entire day sanding the wood and Kai attached the legs, taken from an old sewing machine.
