While we can't write about every craft fair and marketplace happening across the country (or the world), we do like to highlight a handful of notable ones each week. The East
(Sat) 9-4
Celebrating both art and the nature that inspires it, this festival is held right next to the Frosty Drew Nature Center and Observatory. Visitors are encouraged to take a break from shopping the artistic wares to travel through the universe with Dr. Giovanni Fazio. There will also be fish print demonstrations, fabulous food (much of it from the nearby sea) and live music.

The South

Named for Phil Baxter's 1920s song "Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas," you ought to see this festival do its stuff. In addition to the many craft booths, there will be a parade, a barbecue, a 5K race, a ding dong eating contest and much more!

Ahoy mateys! Bring ye crew to the annual Fishermen's Village Pirate Fest for booty, rum and fun. The pirate encampment features treasures from pirate adventures (or pirate crafts), and it hosts treasure hunts, cannon displays, (temporary) pirate tattoos and more. Aye, there's even word of live mermaids about!

The Midwest

A juried art event that attracts sixty talented exhibitors from around the greater Minnesota area, the Owatonna Festival of the Arts draws visitors from the tri-state area. In addition to the fabulous artistic goods, there will be live entertainment, participatory art events and succulent concessions.

The West

Visitors will be sure to strike it rich at the Gold Dust Days Street Fair: they can pan for gold with the instruction of the onsite Washington State Prospectors Association and Prospectors Plus. If luck doesn't go their way with gold panning, they'll certainly find something at the street fair that's worth more than gold: a unique and perfect art piece, or, at the very least, priceless memories! Free face painting, gunny sack races against firemen and bike decorating are just a few of the activities to be experienced at this small town's delightful festival.
