Hand embroidery can be a fun and useful hobby to pick up. Not only can you sew beautiful home décor, but you can also use it to add flair to your clothing, towels or blankets. And as these videos show, it isn’t very hard to pick up either. We’ve chosen out the best how-to videos to get you started stitching.

Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching breaks down the basics of embroidery in the first of her videos on Kin Community. Learn what you’ll need to start stitching and how to start a project. Her playlist also includes how-to videos for several types of stitches as well as how to embroider on paper.


 

If you’re looking for something a little quicker, check out this tutorial by Amanda Rolfe, the blogger behind 3and3quarters, on seven basic embroidery stitches in under six minutes. Amanda covers some of the most common stitches in embroidery including back stitch, stem stitch, blanket stitch and more!


Once you’ve got your stitches down, try a small project like the one shown by Melanie Ham to embroider a monogram. Melanie suggests the monogram as a present for Mom, but it would work as a gift for anyone that likes having their name on things.
