Known as “Vermont’s premier store for home decor, toy and hobby, and high quality art and craft supplies,” Creative Habitat pledges to give its customers a personal touch they won’t get at a big box crafting store. The store has an in-house framing shop that can create custom frames for all your decorating needs and, of course, they offer workshops and demos to their customers. Choose from a variety of "Projects at Home" or unique classes that aim to teach crafting students an interesting set of crafting skills. For instance, this weekend Creative Habitat is hosting a "Beginner Copic Marker Class" and in a few weeks they have a "Bob Ross Style Painting Class" scheduled. If you’re not in Vermont, you can also purchase Creative Habitat’s products online and draw inspiration from their blog. No matter where you are, Creative Habitat offers a unique and refreshingly independent crafting experience.
Don’t forget to check out Creative Habitat’s website and blog.
Here are some interesting pieces of information about Creative Habit from Toni, who works in Marketing and Promotions for the store.
What is the difference between "Projects at Home" and your classes?
Projects at Home are projects that people can do at home, they are basically printable sheets involving products we have in our store (sometimes a customer will ask about a sample we have in our store and we can direct them to the projects@home section).
What was your inspiration for starting the Creative Habitat business?
Creative Habitat was started by two brothers, Mike and Mark Dowling, and remains a family-owned business to this day.
What kind of classes do you offer for beginners?
We offer
classes on crafting and arts on a varied schedule. The classes are done in store, with expert artists and crafters. We offer a popular paint in the methods of Bob Ross, intro knitting & beading classes, scrapbooking for beginners and much more.
The "Shop Around the Corner" series is our chance to highlight great craft shops around the country. While we can't feature every store, we are hopping state to state to show off some of the best in craft retail. Would you like to nominate a shop to be featured? E-mail us at info@craftfoxes.com and let us know about your favorites.
