Do you have enough coasters for your home? Whenever you're party planning, that's a thought that might cross your mind. Let's face it; no one likes glassmarks on their furniture. Coasters are a very underrated household accessory that you can make all by yourself. If you have a little more time and some artistic skills, you can make a set of coasters that any hostess will love.
Step 1: Start with Wood Cross-Cuts
Check out the wood section of your local craft store, as they have small precut pieces that are the perfect size for this project. If you're looking to save some money or are handy enough with a saw, use fallen branches from the yard.

This is where you can get as creative as you want. Using Photoshop, Illustrator, or even Word or Powerpoint, make up a really cool type slogan to put on your coasters. A relatively simple font works best for this project.

Now that you've transfered the image to the coaster, get a felt tip marker and outline the slogan. Check the image to the left to see how it should appear.

Color the letters in using acrylic paint or paint markers.

Let this sit out for a while for the paint to set. To make sure the paint on the coasters don't chip, you might consider coating them with Mod Podge or sealant. And there you have it: Your own fancy DIY coaster set.
