If you’re like me, you try to find a second life for every leftover bead, button and fabric scrap. Leather is no different, and at almost $30 per yard, it is the last craft material that should go to waste. These easy and inexpensive projects will use up the last of your leather scraps while also adding some rocker spice to your wardrobe. How’s that for multi-tasking?
Leather Bow Cuff
This romantic take on the traditional leather cuff looks just as good with a dress and heels as it does with a pair of jeans and boots. It’s a straightforward project that even a beginner can complete in no time. Cut an oval-shaped piece of leather (a couple of inches longer than your wrist) and wrap with a piece of thread to form the bow. Sew a snap button to both ends to secure your cuff.

The bib necklace is one of the hottest accessory trends right now. Why not put your leftover leather to work and make your own? Sketch out a pattern for your scraps before you begin, then cut your material into circles of various sizes. Glue the circles together and attach the finished design to a length of chain. Glue on a few sparkly beads to add a little more zing to the finished product.

The best thing about leather flowers is that they don’t need water. You can always count on them to cheer up an ordinary jacket or bag. Draw a pattern of your favorite flower and cut your leather accordingly. Soak the leather petals in warm water and mold them together. Tie the mold with a string to hold the pieces in place. When the piece is dry, remove the string and fluff to get the look you want. Finish with a button or bead in the center.
