Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Recipes

Gluten-free Thanksgiving recipes can help ensure that everyone can enjoy the food-centric holiday. According to the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, nearly 1 in 133 Americans suffer from Celiac disease, and the only established cure is a gluten-free diet. Personally, I know and love several people with a gluten intolerance, and it is my sincere wish that everyone gets a lovely and tasty Thanksgiving meal this November. With that goal in mind, I set about trying to find awesome gluten-free recipes that everyone can enjoy on a day for giving thanks.

Silky smooth mashed potatoes are delicious on their own, but they're brought to the next level with fabulous homemade gravy, so this gluten-free Thanksgiving recipe is a must-make. Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Recipes: Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry Sauce

It may seem like a hassle, but please believe me when I say that cranberry sauce from scratch is so worth the effort because the homemade version is leaps and bounds better than the stuff in a can. Really there is no comparison. What's more, you know exactly what's in the sauce when you make it at home so there's no hidden gluten lurking to destroy the holiday cheer.

Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Recipes: Soft Dinner Rolls
Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free Dinner Rolls

These rolls are made with a custom blend of pastry flour that is gluten-free. One of the great things about this recipe is that it can be made a day or two ahead of the big day and then reheated. Soft, warm dinner rolls are one of my favorite sides, and it's delightful that my gluten-free friends can enjoy them too!

Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Recipe: Pumpkin Pie

GF Pumpkin Pie

My grandmother doesn't have any gluten-free Thanksgiving recipes in her repertoire, but she literally makes at least three or four pies from scratch every Thanksgiving. Therefore, it's impossible for me to imagine the holiday without at least two different varieties, and luckily there are many different gluten-free solutions to pie crusts and fillings. This particular solution forgoes the crust and just offers divine pumpkin filling, probably because it cannot be contained by flakiness. It's also vegan. And I don't think I've yet said delicious, which is most important, really.

Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Recipe: Apple Pie
GF Apple Pie

As previously mentioned, my family has a pie problem, so I thought I'd give my gluten-free friends some options in the pie arena. And, between you and me, this is the one you'll find me hovering by, and if there are any leftovers, there won't be after breakfast the next day. This pie has a lovely flaky crust that requires some love, loads and loads of apples, and a delicious crumb topping that includes pecans. Basically, it's a recipe for a successful Thanksgiving in my book.

Green Bean Casserole
Gluten-free Thanksgiving recipes that are made from scratch with fresh ingredients can be even better than their gluten-filled counterparts. I hate canned green beans and their casseroles and so thankfully this dish is chock full of freshness. Made with homemade cream of mushroom soup, fresh green beans and topped with homemade fried onion rings, this recipe is easily superior to any canned variation. Try it!
