This week we feature Rebeckah Ferger, who blogs over at Rebeckah’s Treasures. Rebeckah is very passionate about crocheting and focuses on making toys. When she was younger, she would create crocheted outfits for her Barbie dolls. When she got older, she started making crocheted accessories, baby clothes for friends and even some amigurumi projects. In addition to blogging about her crochet adventures, Rebeckah also sells crochet patterns and offers some free for download. We asked Rebeckah some questions and here’s what she had to say.

Can you tell us a little bit about your blog and when you started it?
The idea to start my blog came about when I finally decided to take the advice of my husband and my sister, both of whom had been encouraging me to start my own website. With a website, naturally you would want a blog to talk about what you love and, in my case, to also showcase my treasures. I decided to finally work on one in November last year, but my website wasn't officially published until March 17 of this year. I blog about my favourite hobby, crocheting — in particular, crocheting toys. I have so much fun crocheting them, and I hope that my sharing of them helps to spark inspiration and creativity for others who share my passion and admiration of crochet.

What is one of your favorite projects you've ever made?
One of my most favourite projects would have to be my amigurumi doll. She is the very first amigurumi project that I designed completely on my own. She makes me feel like a little girl again, which is lots of fun. She is not perfect yet, but I am really proud of how she turned out. I am working on another like her in between projects, so I can make a pattern for her.

Where do you find inspiration for your creative projects?
My inspiration for my creative projects comes from many different places. It all depends on what I am making and why I am making it. For instance, all lot of my earlier projects were made for my little sisters, so a lot of my inspiration came from them. I also find inspiration through other crafters and their projects. I will be browsing different patterns or pictures of crochet items on Google, and I will find something that sparks an interest. That is how I came up with my crochet chess set. I saw some people had crocheted some and I thought it was a brilliant idea. I wanted mine to look closer to a set of chess pieces I like so, using a picture of the chess pieces I liked, I came up with my own version. More recently, however, I have also started to get inspiration from my fans on my Facebook page.  For instance, one of my fans named Karen — a lovely woman, who absolutely adores her grandchildren, was asking my advice on how to go about making a Tinkerbell dress for Barbie. I gave her some ideas to think about, but her question got me to thinking how much fun it would be to work on barbie outfits for all the different Disney heroines. I have done my own version of Tinkerbell and now I plan to work on Ariel.

Which of your craft projects took the longest to finish?
The craft project that took me the longest would have to be the two Barbie wedding sets I made for my two littlest sisters, Little Miss and Boo Bear, for Christmas 2011. It took me nearly 9 weeks to finish them! Needless to say, it was not finished in time for Christmas, especially when you consider that I didn't start the project until a few days before Christmas. However, they knew I was making it for them, and they helped to give me some input on how they would like it. For instance, I let them choose the colours and style of the wedding dress. As I am sure you can imagine, they were mighty pleased to receive the gift once it was finished. Since this was a wedding party, my sisters and I thought they should have a real photo shoot, so that is what we did. Since it was too big of a project to put into one blog post, I split them up into two posts

When I'm not crafting, I can be found . . .
Not crafting …is there such a thing? Ha ha … I am almost always crafting, but when I am not, I like to watch movies and BBC adaptations of novels, or research fun information about pregnancy, birth and babies.
