As Valentine's Day floods the craft interwebs, we take a brief look at the latest trends for jewelry, kids' crafts and (gloriously) James Franco.

That's Vintage Franco

Women's Wear Daily writes that renaissance man James Franco has infused a 1970s vintage styling to his latest project, directing ads for 7 for All Mankind jeans. An extended version of the commerical — nearly 3 hours — will be screened at an art installation hosted by LA's Museum of Contemporary Art ... which Franco will be co-curating.

The Latest Jewelry Trend — 1920s Vintage

The Sacramento Bee has named art deco jewelry as the sparkling new trend this spring. Seen peeping out from the latest collections by Ralph Lauren, Gucci and Chloe, 1920s jewelry is expected to get even more attention thanks to a Gatsby remake featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. And probably James Franco too.

Crafts 'R' Us

Move over, Elmo. The Huffington Post announces craft kits for kids as 2012's hottest toy. Designed with mom and dad in mind, craft kits promote family time while also offering a low-tech, high-creativity alternative to video games, iPhones and all that other lovely, lovely junk.

Move Over, Mall Walkers!

As the Internet (and, we'd like to think, the DIY movement) sucks customers away from traditional shopping centers, the New York Times reports that urban activists are transforming vacant malls into golf putting greens, dog parks and even vegetable gardens.
