February is a month of big events: Super Bowl 2012, Valentine's Day and the Oscars. (And throw in some presidential birthdays for good measure.) It's impossible to avoid any mention of these happenings, of course. But there are a few other things to talk about besides football, hearts and movies.
Case in point: This very unusual sewing machine. Meet Singer's Izek model, which is an ordinary machine except for one key feature. What's that, you say? Well, it hooks up to a Nintendo game console. We say: Why not?

There's a decidedly old-timey new machine on the market: The Anniversary Singer. It has the look of a vintage model but all the conveniences of a modern sewing machine. What's not to love?

While we expect the usual mix of period pieces and fancy gowns to be nominated for best costume at the Oscars this year, it's nonetheless interesting to see behind the, um, seams of notable movies. This round-up from Variety will get you better acquainted with the nominees.

Yep, Valentine's Day is in close range, so you can expect to see the usual articles about interesting date suggestions, ordering floral arrangements and eating chocolate. We never tire of the latter, so we were pleased to see this recipe for super-easy truffles. Lots of marzipan and deliciousness.

We know, we know. You're just as tired of Super Bowl news as the next person. But this round-up of bloggers' favorite simple party recipes is too delicious to pass up. We'll take that chili now, please.
