When it comes to autumn crafts, nothing says "sweater weather" more than fiery foliage. But who says it should be limited to trees? Instead, salute fall's glory right on your front door with a halo of gorgeous color. Though the leaves will dry in place to a natural brown, you can extend the colorful display by spritzing them with floral seal (available at most florist supply shops and select craft stores).

If the leaves in your area haven't fully changed colors yet, get the same effect by using construction paper. Just park yourself in front of the TV, trace leaves onto the paper and get cutting. Though you'll invest more time in scissor work, you'll spend less time actually assembling the wreath — simply overlap and paste the paper leaves onto a wreath form.

We found these glittering pumpkins to be absolutely ... smashing. Get it? Basically, we just like glitter, especially on cute little pumpkins. Just cover the wee gourds with spray adhesive, then dust on glitter in a complementary shade for an adorable centerpiece.

Like the glittery pumpkins, these shimmering gourds definitely have a "wow" factor. They're just way less messy, because they count on the dimensional effect of velvet to contribute the shiny factor. We like them best in burgundy, but white, gold and (of course) orange hues are equally lovely.

Normally, a soft pumpkin is a gross thing. Not so when the gourd in question is crocheted from super-soft yarn. Though it's more versatile in plain orange, we can't help but want to add a jack o'lantern expression in black yarn. Who could resist, really?

Though you'd expect an autumn-themed pincushion to be in a petite pumpkin form, we liked this less-literal take on the season. It uses a palette of gorgeous brown felt, along with small shiny charms to get the point across.

Simply adorable and requiring only the most basic of felting skills, these tiny acorns would make a charming centerpiece or party/wedding favor. For extra cute points, use the real "caps" from natural acorns to top each one.

This little pinecone pal was also too cute not to craft. Using mostly supplies found from the backyard, the wee owl will delight your little ones and, who are we kidding, grown-ups too.

This cozy topper nods to the season without shouting it from the rooftops. The key: Using a variegated yarn in a scheme that recalls an autumnal sunset. The striping effect will come naturally as you work.
